One injury was reported in a duplex fire Monday morning at 7900 Corona Ave., according to a Kansas City, Kansas, Fire Department spokesman.
The alarm was at 7:57 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12.
A resident was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation, the spokesman stated.
As firefighters arrived, they saw heavy smoke coming from the garage, according to the spokesman.
The fire appeared to have started in the basement of the residence, the spokesman stated. The cause of the fire is undetermined and under investigation, authorities stated.
Firefighters attacked the fire until it was extinguished, completing primary and second searches, according to the spokesman.
The Red Cross was called to assist four adults and two children, the spokesman stated.
The estimated loss to the property was $20,000 and to the contents, $3,000, according to the Fire Department spokesman.
