The Kansas Turnpike Authority has released information about an 11-vehicle accident that occurred Thursday, July 23, in a construction zone on I-70 near 57th Street in Kansas City, Kan.
According to the trooper’s report, 10 cars were stopped on eastbound I-70 about 7:31 p.m. Thursday when a semi was unable to stop and struck the vehicles. There were six injuries or possible injuries listed.
The driver of the semi was listed as Mark David McClendon, 38, of Carbondale, Kan. He was not injured.
The second vehicle was a Lincoln utility truck driven by a 27-year-old Kansas City, Kan., man, the report stated. The driver was not injured.
The third vehicle was a Dodge four-door driven by a 44-year-old Kansas City, Kan., woman, who was not injured, according to the report.
The fourth vehicle was a Ford utility truck driven by a 50-year-old woman from Gardner, Kan. She was injured, the report stated.
The fifth vehicle was a Nissan four-door that was driven by a 50-year-old Kansas City, Kan., woman. She was injured, the report stated.
The sixth vehicle was a Mazda four-door driven by a 47-year-old Overland Park, Kan., woman. She was injured, the report said. A 12-year-old Kansas City, Kan., girl in the vehicle had a possible injury, the report stated.
The seventh vehicle was a Honda four-door driven by a 16-year-old Kansas City, Kan., man. He was injured, the report stated.
The eighth vehicle was a Toyota pickup driven by a 33-year-old Kansas City, Kan., man. He was not injured, according to the report. A passenger in the truck, a 44-year-old Kansas City, Kan., man, was not injured, the report said.
The ninth vehicle was a Chevrolet four-door driven by a 25-year-old Kansas City, Kan., woman. She was not injured, the report said.
The 10th vehicle was a Kenworth truck driven by a 35-year-old man from Milan, Tenn., the report stated. He was not injured.
The 11th vehicle was a Nissan four-door driven by a 54-year-old Kansas City, Kan., woman. She was injured, the report stated.
