Many offices will be closed for the holidays on Wednesday, Dec. 25.
The Board of Public Utilities’ administrative and customer service lobby will be closed on Wednesday, Dec. 25, and on Wednesday, Jan. 1. Also, the BPU lobby will close early at 5 p.m. on both Tuesday, Dec. 24, and Tuesday, Dec. 31.
The BPU’s emergency service will be available seven days a week, 24 hours a day. For power emergencies, customers may call 913-573-9522. The water emergency line is 913-573-9622 from 8 a.m. to midnight on weekdays, and 913-573-9522 from midnight to 8 a.m., and during weekends and holidays.
Unified Government offices will be closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1 in observance of the holidays.
Christmas Day, Dec. 25, and New Year’s Day, Jan. 1, also are holidays for state of Kansas offices.
Dec. 25 and Jan. 1 are federal holidays, with federal offices closed those days.
Dec. 25 and Jan. 1 also are postal holidays, and mail will not be delivered on these days. Post offices nationwide will be closed on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. Regular service will begin the day after the holidays. Mail should be placed in blue collection boxes by noon on Dec. 24.
