Barricaded man surrenders peacefully to police in KCK

Kansas City, Kan., police officers were at the scene of a barricaded person at 49th and Oak Grove Road on Friday afternoon.

At about 12:08 p.m. Friday, officers responded to an armed disturbance call in the 4900 block of Oak Grove Road in Kansas City, Kan.

When they arrived, officers were advised that a man in his mid-20s had been outside waving a gun around, and a woman was also inside, possibly being held against her will, a police spokesman said.

Officers contacted an individual from the Kansas Department of Corrections and the U.S. Marshals who advised them that the person inside the residence had a parole violation warrant, according to the spokesman.

Officers told the individual several times to come out of the residence, according to the spokesman. After a short amount of time the man came out of the front door, and was taken into custody without incident, the spokesman said. The female was not harmed, police said.

The incident is under investigation by the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division.
