A search of Big Eleven Lake near 11th and State Avenue today found what appears to be remains, according to a Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Department captain.
Capt. David Thaxton said while they believe the remains are human, they must wait for an autopsy to confirm if they were human remains.
He said they were called to Big Eleven Lake this afternoon by a citizen, who asked sheriff’s officers to check an area. The Fire Department brought in boats, and sheriff’s personnel walked the edges of the lake.
Around the wood lines of the shore, they found what they believe are remains, around 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 11, he said.
At this time, he added, it is too early to know any details about the remains.
