A Kansas City, Kansas, police officer shot a suspect Tuesday night in the 1500 block of North 25th Street, according to a police spokesman.
Police responded to an armed disturbance call just before 11 p.m. July 31, and officers were told that a suspect had tried to break into a car, the spokesman stated.
When the victim confronted the suspect, the suspect fired a gun into the air and fled, the spokesman stated.
Officers then found a suspect matching a detailed description they received, the spokesman said.
Officers confronted the suspect, who produced a gun, according to the spokesman. The officers then fired at the suspect, police said. The suspect was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the police spokesman stated.
The incident is under investigation by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department’s Major Case Unit.
