The Unified Government’s Neighborhood Resource Center will close to in-person customer service at its 4953 State Ave. location from Thursday, Dec. 10, to Monday, Jan. 4, because of staff shortages from the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a UG spokesman..
The temporary office closure will allow the center’s limited staff time to respond to a backlog of voicemails and emails, according to the spokesman. In the meantime, residents are asked to allow up to 48 hours for a response to their requests or inquiry via phone or email.
The center staff asked the public to leave only one voicemail or email about any particular issue. Multiple messages about the same issue will only slow the overall response time for all inquiries, according to the spokesman.
First opened in 1999, the Neighborhood Resource Center provides building inspections and building permits, as well as property maintenance compliance services. The concept of the NRC was to create a focal point for residents to address issues facing their neighborhoods, as well as to provide easy access to all Unified Government neighborhood services and initiatives.
