Man in his 20s died in crash
Northbound I-635 has reopened to traffic after a fatal motorcycle crash, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation.
Kansas City, Kan., police spokesman said that at about 10:45 a.m. the KCK Police Department’s traffic unit was conducting traffic enforcement near I-635 and Metropolitan Avenue.
While headed northbound on I-635, officers observed a motorcycle gaining on them at a high rate of speed, the police spokesman said.
The motorcycle then rear-ended a Ford Ranger, police said. Officers gave cardiopulmonary resuscitation to the driver of the motorcycle, but he was dead on the scene, the spokesman said.
The driver was a man in his early 20s, police said. His identity will not be released until family notification, the spokesman said.
The accident remains under investigation by the Kansas Highway Patrol.
