Kansas City, Kan., firefighters responded to a fire at 7:18 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, at 3137 S. 47th Terrace.
Crews arrived within 4 minutes of the call and found smoke showing from the front of the one-story home, according to a spokesman.
A man who was the only resident of the building was in the shower when he heard a crackling sound and saw smoke and fire coming from the bathroom ventilation fan, the spokesman said.
He was able to get out of the bathroom and make his way to the garage area. Firefighters evacuated him from the structure to an EMS unit for evaluation, the spokesman said.
According to the spokesman, the resident did not suffer any injuries or smoke inhalation.
Firefighters brought the fire under control in 10 minutes, the spokesman said. The fire investigator is looking into the fire.
Damage to the $150,000 home and contents is estimated at about $10,000, according to the Fire Department.
