The Kansas City Kansas Community College men’s soccer team finally opened its postponed 2020 season on the road Friday at No. 15 ranked Cowley County in Arkansas City,
The two teams battled on even terms before the Tigers’ Antonio Peruchi Marra and Alexandre Picoto scored on unassisted goals midway through the half for a 2-0 halftime lead before the Tigers pulled away in the final minutes for a 6-0 win.
The Blues Devils are back in action Monday at Neosho County in Chanute in a women’s and men’s Jayhawk Conference doubleheader at 5 and 7 p.m. The home opener for the Blue Devil men comes Saturday, April 10, a twin bill against Dodge City at noon and 2:30 p.m.
A couple of defensive mistakes and a controversial penalty call doomed the Blue Devils in the first half. The mistakes were multiplied in the second half when Kervens Joseph drew a red card, forcing KCKCC to play most of the second half with 10 players. The Tigers jumped on the opportunity, scoring three of their six goals in the final six minutes of play.
