The University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas has reported nine total fireworks-related injuries between 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 30, and 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 4, according to a spokesman.
The patients were treated at the Burnett Burn Center at KU Hospital. Most were treated and released, but three patients were admitted to the hospital, according to the spokesman.
Of the nine patients, seven were male and two were female, the hospital reported. The patients ranged from 17 months old to 60 years old.
The location of the injuries included hand, chest, eyes, face and arms.
The fireworks used that resulted in injuries were an M-80, firecrackers, smoke bombs and sparklers, according to the hospital.
There was no information released about the city of residence of those who were injured.
The Burnett Burn Center is the region’s only nationally accredited burn center for treatment of both adult and child burns, according to a spokesman.
