The University of Kansas Hospital is opening a new obstetrics and gynecology clinic today at the Bethany Medical Office Building, 21 N. 12th St., Kansas City, Kan.
The new Women’s Health Specialty Clinic is for all women, and will offer a full array of obstetrics and gynecology services, a spokesman said.
Dr. Kari Farris, a doctor of osteopathic medicine, will lead the office. The office will include a midwife and other health professionals.
It will be KU Hospital’s second obstetrics and gynecology clinic in Wyandotte County. The other is at the main hospital campus at 39th and Rainbow.
KU Hospital also has five other clinics around metropolitan Kansas City that offer specialized services for women, including advanced reproductive medicine, primary obstetrics and gynecology, gynecologic oncology, urogynecology, advanced fetal care and high-risk pregnancy, the spokesman said.
“We believe it is vital that we improve access to essential women’s care in Wyandotte County,” said Dr. Carl Weiner, the chair of obstetrics and gynecology at KU Hospital, in a statement. “We have the largest obstetrics and gynecology practice in the metro offering advanced medicine to women throughout the area. It is part of our mission to reach out to women in our home county.”
The clinic is open to all women, and was purposefully put in an underserved area, according to a spokesman.
