New tornado watch in effect in Wyandotte County until 2 a.m.; severe thunderstorm moves toward area

A new tornado watch is in effect through 2 a.m. Monday, April 28, for the Kansas City area, including Wyandotte County.

Wyandotte County also is under a severe thunderstorm warning, particularly eastern Wyandotte County, according to the National Weather Service. The warning is in effect until 7 p.m. Quarter-size hail is possible.

Small hail, lightning, heavy rain and wind was reported in Wyandotte County about 6:45 p.m. Sunday.

Wyandotte County also is under an urban and small streams flood advisory until 9:30 p.m. Residents are advised to avoid areas where water covers the roadway.
