Who doesn’t love pizza?
As a young man growing up, I worked for Shakey’s Pizza.
Well, now there is a new pizza place in town that is fantastic.
The name of the new kid on the block is 1889 Pizza Napoletana, located at 2876 W. 47th St., (near West 47th and Mission Road) next to Oklahoma Joe’s.
When you enter 1889 Pizza, the first thing you will notice is how clean it is and how well organized it is. I don’t eat at a dirty restaurant.
1889 Pizza came about when Jason and Kelli Kolich studied abroad in Italy in 2006. They loved this Neapolitan-style pizza and had a dream to open a restaurant.
“We had a dream,” Kelli said, “and spent many long hours talking about our dream. It all didn’t start to come about until 2014 when we started to really work on our dream. We decided to open it up in Kansas City, Kan., because this is where we are from — the Strawberry Hill area.”
Their menu is unique, with such items as the Honey Bee. It has got to be some of the best pizza I have tried in a very long time.
This staff has put a new definition to superior customer service. The food and cleanness is second to none. I give it five stars on everything.
For more information go to the website, www.1889pizza.com. Their hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday to Thursday.
