NASCAR driver to visit KCKCC

by Kelly Rogge, KCKCC

Race fans get ready. Kansas City Kansas Community College will be at the finish line later this week as it welcomes one of NASCAR’s most well-known drivers to campus.

On Oct. 20, Kansas City, Kan. area McDonald’s will be launching a new service, “McDelivery.” Using the UberEATS App, customers can order food from McDonald’s and have it delivered to them by an Uber driver.

To promote this service and the upcoming race at Kansas Speedway, Jamie McMurray, No. 1 McDonald’s-Cessna Chevrolet, will be making a delivery to KCKCC’s Auto Tech Building, 6736 State Ave., between 9 and 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 20. Community members are welcome to attend.

McMurray, who is currently ranked 12th in the 2017 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup standings, will be delivering 100 breakfast burritos to KCKCC students at his stop and will have time to meet fans before he races off to his next delivery.

A native of Joplin, Mo., McMurray made his first career start in 2002. He received the 2003 Winston Cup Series Rookie of the Year Award and is one of only a handful of drivers to win both the Daytona 500 and the Brickyard 400 in the same year. He is among the drivers competing in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Hollywood Casino 400 Playoff race Oct. 22 at the Kansas Speedway.

UberEATS is Uber’s meal delivery app that allows customers to order food for delivery in participating areas, using the same account they use to take rides. For more information on McDelivery and to see which cities and restaurants participate in the program, visit McDeliveryatMcDonalds.com.
