Police have released the name of the accident victim at 7:56 a.m. Feb. 18 in the 5400 block of Leavenworth Road.
The victim was Bob S. Nill, 88, a resident of Kansas City, Kansas, according to a police spokesman.
A crossing guard, he was struck while keeping children out of the way of an approaching vehicle on Leavenworth Road.
He was taken to a hospital, where he died, according to police.
