Multi-vehicle accident on I-635 results in two possible injuries

Four vehicles were involved in an accident on I-635 southbound, just north of I-35 in Wyandotte County, at 7:46 a.m. June 30, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report.

As a GMC Acadia and a Mazda utility vehicle applied the brakes for traffic, another driver attempted to change lanes to the left in front of a Volvo passenger car, the report stated.

The driver of the Volvo swerved to avoid that other vehicle and rear-ended the GMC Acadia, according to the report, pushing it forward into the Mazda utility vehicle. The other driver that tried to change lanes did not come into contact with any of the vehicles, according to the report.

The driver of the Volvo, a 25-year-old woman from Springfield, Mont., was not injured, according to the trooper’s report. A passenger in the Volvo, a 55-year-old woman, had a possible injury and was taken to a Kansas City, Kan., hospital.

The driver of the Acadia, a 52-year-old man from Shawnee, Kan., had a possible injury and was taken to a hospital in Overland Park.

The driver of the Mazda utility vehicle, a 40-year-old man from Kansas City, Mo., was not injured, according to the report.
