Bonner Springs police shared a post on Facebook of a crash involving a patrol car on Friday.
The officer was stopped to assist another motorist who had struck the patrol car when another motorist lost control and slammed into both vehicles, causing damage and minor injuries, according to the Bonner Springs police Facebook post.
The officer had stepped away from his patrol car before it was hit.
Bonner Springs police urged motorists to slow down, leave early and allow extra space.
