Motorcyclist killed in collision with dump truck on Kaw Drive

A motorcyclist was killed at 5:23 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, after a collision with a dump truck at Kaw Drive and South 78th Street.

A spokesman for the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department said the victim, a male in his late 60s, was dead from his injuries.

The victim was on his motorcycle traveling east on Kaw Drive and rear-ended a dump truck, which was also eastbound, the spokesman said. The driver of the dump truck was not injured.

The identity of the victim will be released after positive identification and family notification, police said.

The accident is under investigation by the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department’s Traffic Support Unit-Critical Collision Response Team.
