Motorists are getting to work this morning on the local highways, slower than usual in many places.
A lot of the local roads and side streets in Kansas City, Kansas, remain icy and snowy, according to motorists. Some areas of interstate highways are still snow-packed or slick in spots. The temperature, 19 degrees at 8 a.m., was too low for some of the pretreatment chemicals to work on the roads.
The commute to work on Monday morning generally was taking longer than usual, with speeds on the highways often 40 mph, according to motorists.
