More than 2,000 customers without power after lightning storm in KCK

The BPU outage map showed over 2,000 customers without power Tuesday evening.

Update: About 103 customers were without power as of 8 a.m. Wednesday.

About 2,280 customers were reported without power about 8:30 p.m. following a lightning storm on Tuesday evening in Kansas City, Kansas.

According to the Board of Public Utilities’ outage map, outages were scattered throughout the city.

The lightning storm was between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. Tuesday.

According to police, three persons had minor injuries during the storm when they took shelter under a tree at Big 11 Lake in Kansas City, Kansas. The injuries were reportedly from falling branches.
