Monarchs celebrate league championship

The Kansas City Monarchs lifted the league championship trophy after an 8-1 win on Monday night at Legends Field in Kansas City, Kansas. It was the second American Association league title for the franchise, and in 1957, the original Kansas City Monarchs also won a league title. Joe Calfapietra was named the league’s manager of the year in 2018 and 2021. A public celebration will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Legends Outlets in the Lawn area. (Photo by Steve Rupert)
