A fire in the 700 block of Orville Avenue on Monday night resulted in minor burns to a firefighter, according to a report from the Kansas City, Kansas, Fire Department.
The injured firefighter was taken to a hospital, according to the report. Twenty-seven firefighters and personnel, four pumpers, two trucks and three EMS units were at the scene.
The cause of the fire at a home at 716 Orville Ave. is undetermined and under investigation, the spokesman stated in the report.
Firefighters arriving within 4 minutes of the call at 7:16 p.m. Sept. 4 saw heavy smoke coming from the multi-story wood-framed home, the spokesman stated.
Five residents of the next-door structure were displaced and the Red Cross was called to assist them, according to the spokesman.
The firefighters battled the fire for about an hour and 15 minutes, and the investigation into it continues, the spokesman stated.
