Mild, cool fall weather today, storms possible Wednesday

Mild and cool fall weather has arrived in Wyandotte County, with the high near 60 today, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

A storm that moved through Sunday afternoon dropped the temperatures around 15 degrees to the cool 60s.

So far, the forecast does not call for any freezing temperatures, but temperatures will drop to 42 tonight before warming up a little midweek, according to the forecast. Friday night, they will be back to a low of around 40 degrees.

A slow moving storm system will bring thunderstorms Wednesday, with rain continuing into Thursday, the weather service said.

From 1 to 2 inches of rain is expected area-wide on Wednesday and Thursday; however, no flooding or severe weather is expected, according to the weather service.

Today, it will be cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 60, and a north wind of 5 to 8 mph, the weather service said.

Tonight, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 42 and an east northeast wind of 3 to 7 mph, according to the weather service.

Tuesday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 66 and a south east wind of 8 to 15 mph, gusting as high as 25 mph, the weather service said.

Tuesday night, there is a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 a.m., with a low of 56, according to the weather service. A south southeast wind of 11 to 14 mph will gust as high as 24 mph. Between a tenth and quarter-inch of rain is possible.

Wednesday, there is an 80 percent chance of showers and possibly a thunderstorm, with a high near 61, the weather service said. A south southeast wind will be 6 to 10 mph, gusting as high as 18 mph. Between a half and three-quarters of an inch of rain is possible.

Wednesday night, there is a 60 percent chance of showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 1 a.m., then a chance of showers, according to the weather service. The low will be around 47. Between a half and three-quarters of an inch of rain is possible.

Thursday, there is a 40 percent chance of showers, with a high near 57, the weather service said.

Thursday night, there is a 30 percent chance of showers before 1 a.m., with a low of 45, according to the weather service.

Friday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 57, the weather service said.

Friday night, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 40, according to the weather service.

Saturday, it will be sunny, with a high near 62, the weather service said.
