After days of high temperatures and then heavy rains, Wyandotte County today can look forward to a mild and dry day.
Today’s forecast will be dry and in the mid-80s, the National Weather Service said, and similar weather continues Saturday and Sunday.
Wyandotte County and the Kansas City area are not under a flood warning at this time. A flood warning continues for some communities to the south and east of the Kansas City area. Some roads still could be in flood stage, including roads around the Big Creek, South Grand River, and Blackwater River, according to the weather service.
Five to 7 inches of rain fell on Thursday throughout much of the metropolitan area, according to the weather service, with much of it in a short time. On Thursday, water rescues took place in areas around Indian Creek near 103rd and Wornall Road in Kansas City, Mo. The creek flooded, leaving some people stranded. Indian Creek in Overland Park, Kan., and Tomahawk Creek in Leawood, Kan., flooded.
The Kansas City, Kansas, Fire Department participated with Kansas City, Mo., in a water rescue of a boat on the river overnight.
Tonight’s forecast will be mostly clear with a low of 64 and an east northeast wind of 5 to 8 mph, according to the weather service.
Saturday, expect mostly sunny skies with a high near 83 and an east northeast wind of 3 to 6 mph, the weather service said.
