The Mega Millions jackpot has been raised to $260 million for tonight’s drawing, after very strong sales, according to a Kansas Lottery spokesman.
The winner could take a cash payout of $158.5 million, according to the lottery.
The previous estimated Mega Millions jackpot was $253 million.
The odds of hitting the jackpot, according to a Mega Millions chart on the lottery’s website, are about 1 in 259 million.
The odds of winning $1 on the Mega Millions ticket are about 1 in 21.
An anonymous resident of Wichita, Kan., won $1 million in Mega Millions in the April 28, 2015, drawing, according to information from the lottery.
The jackpot was last hit in New York on March 24 of this year, according to lottery officials.
