Media day, originally scheduled Friday for the new Verruckt water ride at Schlitterbahn, has been postponed, according to Schlitterbahn officials.
It is billed as the world’s tallest water slide, and it is still scheduled to open Sunday, June 29.
Layne Pitcher, director of marketing and sales for Schlitterbahn in Kansas City, Kan., said there were some delays on the ride’s conveyor system this week.
The conveyor system is now back up and running he said, and is being tested, but is four days behind schedule.
As of right now, the opening of the ride is still set for Sunday, June 29, he said. He added that they would let everyone know if that changes.
Pitcher said several reasons delayed the ride’s scheduled opening earlier this month. Those items included blaster jets, angles of descent, and speeds that riders are sent down, and all needed to be tested and retested. It’s a one-of-a-kind ride and many items needed testing, according to Pitcher.
Pitcher said he plans to ride the new Verruckt. “I can’t wait.”
