Monday, Jan. 16, is a holiday, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and local government offices will be closed.
According to the Unified Government, its administrative offices will be closed for the holiday on Monday, Jan. 16, and will reopen during regular business hours on Tuesday, Jan. 17.
The Board of Public Utilities’ administrative offices and customer service lobby also will be closed on Monday, Jan. 16, for the holiday.
BPU’s emergency services will remain available. For power emergencies, customers may call 913-573-9522; for water emergencies, call 913-573-9622.
Trash will not be collected on Monday, Jan. 16, in Kansas City, Kan., and the trash pickup schedule has been pushed back a day this week.
Martin Luther King Day also is a state holiday in Kansas and a federal holiday.
Jan. 16 also is a holiday for the U.S. Postal Service.
The Kansas City, Kan., Public Library is closed Jan. 16 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
