Sherrick Sims, 27, was sentenced to life in prison, hard 25 sentence, today in Wyandotte County District Court in a 2013 murder case.
Sims had been found guilty in April of first-degree premeditated murder and criminal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The murder of Jose Alarcon Quintana took place June 9, 2013, at 1124 Tenny in Kansas City, Kan.
According to Kansas Department of Corrections records, Sims had prior convictions for drug possession in Wyandotte County in 2011, and drug offenses from Johnson County in 2006. His sentence expired in January 2011 and he was charged with a drug offense in February 2011.
Judge Bill Klapper sentenced Sims. Mollie Hill, assistant district attorney, prosecuted the case. It was investigated by the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department.
