Man sentenced in murder case

Scottie E. Lindsay, 31, was sentenced to 57.3 years in prison on March 4 in Wyandotte County District Court for the March 19, 2015, murder of Melinda Bates Fuller and attempted murder of Julius Lamont Boyd.

Lindsay shot Boyd and Fuller multiple times at Boyd’s residence in the 800 block of North 70th Street after an argument. Fuller was a 37 year-old Kansas City, Kan., resident at the time of her death.

A Wyandotte County jury found Lindsay guilty of one count of intentional second-degree murder, one count of attempted intentional second-degree murder and one count of criminal possession of a firearm after a four day trial in January 2015. Under Kansas law, Lindsay will be required to serve a minimum of 85 percent of the 618-month sentence.

The sentence was imposed by Judge Michael Grosko. The state was represented by Jennifer Tatum, assistant district attorney. The case was investigated by the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department.
