Man injured in crash between semi and truck on I-70

A man was injured in a crash between a semi and a pickup truck at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, on I-70, according to a Kansas Turnpike Authority trooper’s report.

Both vehicles were westbound on I-70 near Tonganoxie, according to the report.

The semi, driven by an Edwardsville, Kan., man, was traveling at a speed of 50 mph, towing a bobtail semi, according to the report.

The driver of an Isuzu pickup truck came over the crest of a hill and was unable to avoid hitting the semi, the report stated. The pickup truck struck the rear of the semi and after the crash, the Isuzu caught fire, the report stated.

The driver of the pickup truck, a 32-year-old man from Mission, Kan., was injured and taken to the hospital, according to the report.

The driver of the semi, a 46-year-old man from Edwardsville, Kan., was not injured, the report stated.
