A man who died from an apparent gunshot wound after exchanging gunfire with law enforcement officers Aug. 19 has been identified as Pablo C. Tiersten, 38, a resident of Kansas City, Kan.
U.S. Marshals officers were serving a warrant about 8:16 p.m. Aug. 19 in the 2200 block of Elizabeth Avenue when the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department responded to assist, a spokesman said. They were serving a fugitive apprehension warrant.
The U.S. Marshal made contact with individuals inside the residence who were able to positively identify one of the individuals as the suspect the marshals were there to apprehend, according to a spokesman.
The suspect exchanged gunfire with the U.S. Marshals and barricaded himself inside the residence, the spokesman said. After several unsuccessful attempts to make contact with the suspect, the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department’s Special Operations Unit entered the residence and found the man, dead inside a closet, from an apparent gunshot wound, the spokesman said.
The incident remains under investigation by the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division.
