A homicide was reported today at 63rd and Parallel Parkway, according to police.
About 11:45 a.m. police received “shots fired” calls around 61st and Leavenworth Road, according to a police spokeswoman.
Officers were in the area checking on the call, and one officer traveling on Parallel Parkway saw a car stopped on 63rd just north of the Parallel Parkway intersection, she said.
Two persons were inside the car, and one man in his early 30s was found dead from a gunshot wound to the head, she said. Officers are talking with the other person inside the car.
Officers are currently on Leavenworth Road, from 61st to 63rd, investigating, she said.
A few blocks south of the intersection, on 64th, a police vehicle was stationed at the entrance of the Coronado Middle School for added security.
