A man in his early 60s died in a single-car accident about 6:11 a.m. Tuesday, May 24, at the 1000 block of Washington Boulevard in Kansas City, Kan.
A Kansas City, Kan., police spokesman said a preliminary investigation indicated that because of mechanical failures, the vehicle had to be put in gear from the engine compartment while the vehicle was started. It is believed that a device holding the brake slipped, causing the car to roll forward, over the victim, police said.
The identity of the victim is being withheld until there is positive identification and family notification.
The accident is under investigation by the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department’s Traffic Support Unit-Critical Collision Response Team.
