Carlos Antonio Gallegos, 29, Kansas City, Mo., was charged with first-degree murder today in connection with the July 5 strangulation death of Monica Chavira.
Wyandotte County District Attorney Jerome A. Gorman filed the charges today.
Chavira was found dead July 5 in a hotel room in the 500 block of Southwest Boulevard in Kansas City, Kan.
Gallegos is currently in Jackson County, Mo., custody, awaiting extradition to Kansas.
A Wyandotte County District Court judge set the bond at $1 million.
