Man charged in connection with Friday morning homicide

Charges of second-degree murder and criminal possession of a firearm were filed today in connection with a homicide that took place Feb. 6 in the 2400 block of West 42nd Avenue in Kansas City, Kan., according to the Wyandotte County district attorney’s office.

Andrew M. Farish, 25, of Westwood, Kan., was arrested Friday in Kansas City, Mo., in connection with the homicide, and charges were filed on Saturday, the district attorney’s office stated.

Farish was previously prosecuted by the district attorney’s office, and in 2008 he pleaded guilty to a felony robbery charge, a spokesman said.

Gerardo Jiminez was found dead inside of a residence about 4:07 a.m. Friday, police said, and he died from multiple gunshot wounds. He was a Kansas City, Kan., resident.

Farish now is in custody in Kansas City, Mo., awaiting extradition to Wyandotte County, the spokesman said. Bond was set at $1 million.

The Kansas City, Kan., major case unit investigated the matter. They received assistance from the Kansas City, Mo., and Westwood, Kan., police departments.

The investigation is continuing by the major case unit of the Kansas City, Kan., police department with assistance from the district attorney’s office, a spokesman said.
