A film festival dedicated to promoting awareness about women’s issues is coming to Kansas City Kansas Community College.
LunaFest started April 28 in the Intercultural Center on the KCKCC main campus, 7250 State Ave. It will also be shown at noon April 29 at the West Wyandotte Public Library, 1737 N. 82nd St. The festival is open to the public.
LunaFest is an annual fundraising film festival that is dedicated to promote awareness about women’s issues as well as to highlight women filmmakers and bringing together women in the community. The total run time is 90 minutes, followed by a group discussion. The host is AAUW-KCKCC.
Donations are requested at the KCKCC showing of LunaFest. Contributions will be used to support education efforts about issues that affect women such as breast cancer as well as to provide scholarships, mentoring and networking opportunities to women and girls in the area. All contributions are tax deductible.
This year’s slate of films will inspire discussion, make the audience laugh, tug at the heart strings and motivate others to make a difference in their own community. The films include:
