The Kansas Lottery has announced a transfer of more than $12 million to Kansas during February – the most it has ever transferred in a single month.
The amount is about twice the average monthly transfer, a spokesman said. The larger amount was due to the increased sales of Powerball tickets for the $1.6 billion jackpot that was hit Jan. 13, the spokesman said.
Nearly $9.7 million of lottery tickets were sold in a single drawing in Kansas, a record high, the spokesman said. In the last three drawings of the jackpot run (Jan. 6, 9 and 13) – total sales were more than $19.2 million.
