Letter carriers to collect food today in Stamp Out Hunger food drive

Saturday, May 11, is the National Association of Letter Carriers Stamp Out Hunger food drive.

It is the 27th anniversary of this food drive, where letter carriers collect nonperishable food donations from customers. The post office, letter carriers, Harvesters and other partners are involved in this effort.

The donations collected locally will go to food pantries in the Kansas City metro area to provide food for people who need help.

The public may leave nonperishable food donations in a bag by their mailbox, and the postal carrier will pick it up. Individuals also may drop food off at a local post office or in the Harvesters barrels at area Price Choppers.

Some residents may have received a plastic bag, sponsored by Price Chopper, for donations in the mailbox in the days leading up to the drive. If residents didn’t receive a bag, donations may be placed in any kind of bag.
