The left-turn lanes from the existing westbound I-70 to southbound K-7 ramp will be removed sometime during the day on Wednesday, Jan. 7, weather permitting, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation.

A KDOT spokesman said crews will be removing and installing new pavement markings on the ramp on Jan. 7.

This ramp access movement has two left-turn lanes, and one is currently closed, with a message board advising that the upcoming removal of both turn lanes will occur. The traffic change is very temperature dependent, due to the painting of the new pavement markings, the spokesman said.

All ramp access is currently available through the new westbound I-70 southbound K-7 ramp.

The new westbound I-70 to southbound K-7 ramp opened to traffic at 9 a.m. Monday, Dec. 22.

Once the left-turn lanes are removed, westbound I-70 traffic will no longer use this existing ramp to exit to southbound K-7. The only movements available from the existing westbound I-70 to southbound K-7 ramp will be either right turns onto northbound K-7 or the through lane movement onto Canaan Drive.

Once the left-turn lanes on the existing ramp are removed, westbound I-70 traffic wanting to access southbound K-7 must use the new westbound I-70 to southbound K-7 loop ramp C.
