Mobile lane closures on southbound I-635, in Wyandotte County, between Swartz Road and the I-35 – I-635 – U.S. 69-Metcalf Avenue interchange will begin Monday, April 20, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation.

After southbound I-635 is complete, crews will move to northbound I-635. Work will occur from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weather permitting, and is expected to be complete Friday, May 1, a spokesman stated. The lane closure is necessary for pothole patching.

Left lanes on southbound I-635, between 48th Street and K-32, and the right lane on westbound I-70 from 18th Street to I-635, including the exit and on ramps, will be closed starting Monday, April 20, according to the spokesman.

Work will occur from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and is expected to be complete Wednesday, April 23. The lane closures are necessary for pavement grinding.

Traffic will be controlled by mobile lane closures using trucks with arrow boards and digital message boards, the spokesman stated.

A KDOT spokesman urged all motorists to be alert and obey the warning signs when approaching and driving through a highway work zone. To stay aware of all road construction projects across Kansas go to www.kandrive.org or call 5-1-1. Motorists were urged to drive safely and always wear their seat belts, the spokesman stated.
