Kansas City Kansas Community College sophomore Erin Anderson is the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Player of the Week.
A 5-7 guard from Edwardsville High School outside St. Louis, Anderson was honored for her play in the Lady Blue Devils’ 70-54 win over Avila JV and 103-39 thumping of Sterling’s JV.
Averaging 19 points, Anderson was 15 of 23 shooting-wise in the two games for 66.6 percent and six of 10 from three-point (.600). She also added eight rebounds, five steals and four assists a game including a career high eight steals against Sterling.
Last year’s Most Valuable Player, Anderson followed up with an outstanding all-around performance in an 86-41 win over Central Methodist Tuesday, scoring 16 points, grabbing a game high 10 rebounds and adding five assists and five steals.
“Her stat sheet is self-explanatory as to the type of player she is, how hard she plays and what a competitor she is,” said KCKCC coach Joe McKinstry. “As our returning MVP, she’s stepped up as a leader of a squad that’s short on playrs and does so many things right, not only scoring but leading in rebounding, steals and assists.”
