Kansas City Kansas Community College’s women’s soccer team is on an October journey to do more than just win soccer games and secure a berth in the regional playoffs.

In observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Lady Blue Devils will be raising money for the Great Kansas City Susan G. Koman Foundation at their four home games during the month.

Donations will be accepted at the gate for the following games: Johnson County, Tuesday, Oct. 13, 5:30 p.m.; Dodge City, Friday, Oct. 16, 5:30 p.m.; Hutchinson, Tuesday, Oct. 20, 6 p.m.; and Barton County, Monday, Oct. 26, 4 p.m. Donations will also be accepted in the KCKCC Athletic Department or by mail to KCKCC Women’s Soccer, 7250 State Ave., Kansas City, KS. 66112.

“This is a great opportunity for our ladies to play for a cause bigger than themselves,” said KCKCC coach Jeremy Winzer. “I have personally lost a family member to breast cancer and in the past I’ve coached players who lost parents and relatives to breast cancer. So this month will bring forth a great deal of emotion and passion. From this point on, it is not about winning or losing. It’s about bringing together a community and fighting for a good cause and ultimately the biggest win, bringing an end to breast cancer.”
