Kansas City Kansas Community College’s women will close out their home season Thursday after dropping another one-goal loss on Tuesday. The home finale Thursday will come at 2 p.m. against Maple Wood.

Coffeyville made a 2-0 halftime lead stand up Tuesday, taking a 2-1 Jayhawk Conference win. It was the third straight loss by one goal for the Lady Blue Devils, who fell to 6-8 on the season.

“We really competed well,” KCKCC coach Shawn Uhlenhake said. “We had a lot of play outside their goal with several scoring opportunities but just could not capitalize.”

Madison Plake, a freshman from DeSoto, scored KCKCC’s lone goal on a header after taking a pass from Carmen Rush, also a freshman from DeSoto. The goal came with 29 minutes left in the second half.

The Blue Devils will close out Jayhawk Conference play next week, playing at Johnson County Tuesday at 2 p.m. and at Butler Friday at 4 p.m.
