Kansas City Kansas Community College is holding open call auditions for its upcoming theater production “The Addams Family: The Musical.”
Still creepy and kooky, mysterious and kooky, and altogether ooky – all of Charles Addams’ beloved characters return in musical form with a brand new story. Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family. Since her parents have never met him, Wednesday confides in her father, and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez must do something he has never done before, keep this secret from his beloved wife, Mortica.
The musical is under the direction of Charles Leader with musical direction by Lenora Remmert. Choreography by Michael Joy and Paula Lang.
Auditions are at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, in the KCKCC Performing Arts Center. Email [email protected] to set up an appointment. Walk-ins are also welcome.
Those participating should prepare a one-minute monologue from a contemporary play and 16 bars of a Broadway-type song. Bring the sheet music of the song you are going to sing to the audition, and an accompanist will be provided. If you have neither a monologue nor music prepared, audition material will be provided.
Callbacks are at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25. Dance auditions are from 4 to 5 p.m. the same day. Wear something you are comfortable moving in.
Rehearsals are from 6 to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, beginning Aug. 29. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 13, 14 and 15 at the performing arts center. There is also a matinee at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16.
