You can help save a life with just a few minutes and some of your life-saving blood.
The Kansas City Kansas Community College Blood Drive is from 8:30 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, in Room 2325 on the KCKCC main campus, 7250 State Ave. The event is sponsored by the KCKCC Student Senate. Free pizza will be available to those who donate.
“This is a yearly blood drive put on by the student senate,” said Kim Morgan, campus nurse at KCKCC. “Blood and its components can be used to assist with many medical procedures.
“People who have been in car accidents and have suffered massive blood loss may require transfusions of more than 50 pints or more of red blood cells,” she said. “Cancer, transplant, trauma and open-heart surgery patients require platelet transfusions to survive.”
Anyone who is at least 16 years old, healthy and weighs at least 115 pounds is eligible to donate blood. Additional information on medical eligibility requirements can be obtained by calling 1-800-245-7035.
To make an appointment contact Kim Morgan at 913-288-7683 or by email at [email protected]. Leave the following information – first and last name, phone number, email address, requested time of donation and whether or not you have previously donated with the Community Blood Center.
Information is also available by contacting a representation of Student Senate. Appointments can also be made by going to savealifenow.org. Enter sponsor code, KCKSCOMCOL.
