Two All Skills basketball camps for boys and girls will be held at Kansas City Kansas Community College Monday through Wednesday, June 15-17.
A Beginners Camp for boys and girls in pre-kindergarten through the third grade will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. each day with a Girls Intermediate All Skills camp for girls in the fourth through 10th grade to be held from 1 to 3 p.m.
KCKCC head coach Valerie Stambersky, the 2014-15 Co-Coach of the Year in the Jayhawk Conference and one of three finalists for the National NJCAA Coach of the Year; veteran assistant coach Alicia Roth; and members of the Lady Blue Devil basketball team that compiled a 28-4 record this past season, will provide the instruction.
The camps are designed to provide instruction in the fundamentals in the game of basketball including such essential areas as passing, dribbling, shooting, defense and footwork. Campers will be separated according to their skill level where they will be instructed on developing proper habits. There will also be a series of methods of instruction through group lectures, individual and small group work, breakdown drills to create repetitions of the skills themselves and competitive play.
The cost is $40 for the Beginners Camp; $60 for the Girls Intermediate Camp. All campers will receive a camp T-shirt and compete in a series of competitions. Advanced registration is highly recommended although campers will be allowed to sign up prior to the start of each camp.
Boys and girls may register in the Athletic Department in the Field House located at the north end of the campus at 7250 State or going online to http://bluedevils.kckcc.edu/sports/wbkb/2015_All_Skills_Camp_Flier.pdf and clicking on KCKCC Blue Devil Basketball Camp. In addition to name, age, address and home phone number, other information that will be requested is year in school and school of attendance, emergency contact and shirt size. Medical releases also must be signed.
