Kansas City Kansas Community College will open the 2018 NJCAA District M volleyball playoffs at No. 1 seeded Highland Saturday afternoon.
Ranked No. 3 in the nation, Highland (34-2) earned the No. 1 seed by defeating No. 1 ranked Coffeyville 3-0 in Highland Tuesday.
The KCKCC-Highland contest will tip off at 4 p.m. and will be followed by a clash between No. 4 seeded Johnson County (25-7) and No. 5 Neosho County (20-21) at 6 p.m. The two winners will then collide at 8 p.m. for the right to advance to the NJCAA Division II national tournament to be played in Charleston, West Virginia, Nov. 21-23.
Seeded No. 7 with an 18-15 record, KCKCC will be facing Highland for the second time in less than three weeks. Highland came from behind for a 3-1 win in the first meeting of the two teams at KCKCC No. 17.
In the District N playoffs at Coffeyville Saturday, No. 2 seeded Coffeyville (34-3) will face No. 6 Fort Scott (25-13) at 1 p.m. with No. 3 Cowley College (32-6) meeting Northeastern Oklahoma A&M (20-11) at 3 p.m. The two winners will then meet for a national tournament berth at 5 p.m.
