The Kansas City Kansas Community College Board of Trustees recently approved a change to its monthly board meetings, allowing even more community members to attend and be a part of the process.
Beginning this month, Board of Trustees meetings will be at 5 p.m. the third Tuesday of the month in Upper Jewell on the KCKCC Main Campus, 7250 State Ave. The public is invited to attend the monthly meetings.
The two exceptions are the October meeting, to be held at the Pioneer Career Center (PCC) in Leavenworth and the April meeting, to be held at the Dr. Thomas R. Burke Technical Education Center. These will be held at 9 a.m. to give students greater opportunity to attend.
A list of KCKCC Board of Trustees meeting dates for the 2018-2019 academic year (all meetings are at 5 p.m. in Upper Jewell Building at 7250 State Ave. unless otherwise noted):
• Sept. 18
• Oct. 16 – 9 a.m. at PCC
• Nov. 13 (moved up one week because of Thanksgiving break)
• Dec. 18
• Jan. 15
• Feb. 19
• March 19

Members of the KCKCC Board of Trustees discussed over the summer the possibility of moving the time of monthly meetings to allow those in the Wyandotte and Leavenworth county communities greater access to attend.
Recognizing that many citizens work and are unable to take time away to attend meetings in the morning, the board ultimately decided to move meetings to the end of the day to make it easier for community members to attend.
