Kansas City, Kansas, police today released a description of a suspect vehicle that may have been involved in a Christmas Eve homicide that killed a grandmother.

Police have had very few leads since the tragic event and made a plea today to the public for assistance with new tips and identifying a silver sedan they believe suspects were driving that evening, according to a police spokesman.

On Christmas Eve, Friday, Dec. 24, Patricia Panijan, age 85, was watching television inside her home around 9:20 p.m. when she and her husband were struck by gunfire that riddled the front of their home, police said. The location was the 2900 block of North 73rd Place.

She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her husband was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and was later released.

Detectives described the suspects’ vehicle as:

• Four-door sedan
• Silver in color
• Believed to be a 2011-2014 Volkswagen – Passat or Jetta
• Does not have a sunroof (this is common in most models)

Anyone who knows anything about this incident or recognizes this vehicle is urged to call the KC Crime Stoppers TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS or online and KCCrimestoppers.com, the spokesman stated. All tips are anonymous and may qualify for a cash award.
